Who and What are the HR Assistants?

A human resources (HR) assistant is a certified professional who handles the daily administrative and HR duties of the organization.

The HR assistant aids the HR managers with recruitment, record maintenance, and payroll processing, and provides clerical support to all employees.

Usual HR Assistant Responsibilities:
> Support all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
> Assist with recruitment by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
> Serve as point of contact with benefit vendors and administrators.
> Maintain digital and electronic records of employees.
> Assist with performance management procedures.
> Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR events and maintain agendas.
> Coordinate training sessions and seminars.
> Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
> Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews.
> Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.

HR Assistant Requirements:
> Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
> A certain amount of experience as an HR assistant.
> Effective HR administration and people management skills.
> Exposure to payroll practices.
> Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
> Exposure to labour law and employment equity regulations.
> Works well under pressure, is highly organised and meets tight deadlines.
> Highly computer literate
> Meticulous attention to detail.
> Ability to accurately follow instructions.
